Packing Suggestions
- When packing fragile articles, pack the heaviest objects toward the bottom.
- Wrap articles separately with clean wrapping paper.
- Mark your boxes on tops and sides for easy identification.
- If possible, dissassemble furniture and cover for protection.
- Utilize your bureau drawers for additional packing of small items.
- Wrap furniture legs with wrapping paper to keep from getting scratched.
- Mattresses should be covered to keep them clean.
- Chairs should be stacked seat-to-seat with a cloth or paper separating them.
- Appliances should be clean and dry before they are stored.
- Don't pack boxes too heavily so you are able to lift them and if necessary use a dolly.
Storage Tips
- We can help you choose the right size storage space to fit your needs.
- Never store live animals, perishables, liquids, explosives, flammable liquids, or toxic materials in your unit.
- Store items you may need more often towards the front.
- Leave yourself some aisle space for easier access to most of your items.
Rental Agreements
- Storage facilities should always provide a written rental agreement. Read it thoroughly and if you have any questions, ask the Storage Manager.
- Take note of your payment due date, make sure it is correct, check that any specials have been applied.
- Check that prorated rental periods are covered.
- Go over details on any vacating policy.
Insurance
- You have sole responibility for items you place in storage.
- Your items are not insured by the facility in the case of theft, damage, or loss of any kind.
- A list of low cost insurance companies can be provided to you by your storage manager.
- Keep your codes and combinations safe, more often than not, your belongings are stolen by others known to you or by those who helped you move.
- We recommend you use good quality locks for your storage unit. We do have locks for sale if you do not have your own.
Safety & Your Belongings
- Make sure there are security systems in place at the facility of your choice.
- Closed circuit tv surveillance and video recording, with motion detectors and perimeter contacts should be utilized.
- Buildings with sprinklers, modern lighting,and alarms should be in place for your safety, as well as your belongings.
- Notify the Manager of any suspicious behavior.
